Start your exciting adventure from Messina when you meet your local guide who will welcome you with a presentation of this beautiful city and island while you begin the drive up to your starting point in a comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle where you will find your mountain bike and all equipment necessary for this thrilling and active ride.
This natural landmark of Sicily, Mt. Etna, is the place where the nature offers its beautiful hospitality to its visitors. Did you know the ancient Greeks believed that Vulcan, the god of fire and metalwork, had his workshop in Mt. Etna?
During the scenic ride to the volcano you will gain a clear idea of the importance of Sicily in the Mediterranean area and you will learn about its history made by the dominations which have left their imprint on the culture, architecture, language, traditions and food.
Your mountain biking experience on Mt. Etna will begin at 1800 meters on the northern side of the volcano where you will be welcomed at the Chalet "Clan dei Ragazzi" where you will receive your helmet and all the instructions necessary with a safety briefing before you begin your ride.
Discover and capture photos of amazing landscapes in the abundance of the cold and fertile volcanic soils created by the various eruptions over the years and admire the picturesque scenery made by bright colors around you. See the blue of the sea, the green of the trees and the black of the lava which compose this surreal, lunar-like painting.
During your ride you will be accompanied by a professional, trained guide who will show you the main characteristics of the landscapes, the valleys and the mountains in the distance. Watch for possible small eruptions from the summit craters or from fissures and old craters along the mountainside.
After approximately 3-hours trekking on your bike you will be rewarded when you return to your starting point with a well-deserved and delicious locally produced Sicilian food, a tasty cannoli.

We recommend wearing comfortable, weather appropriate clothing for a bike ride and closed-toe sneakers or athletic shoes. We suggest a gym towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, cycle shorts and a change of clothes (optional).
Restrictions
Guests must be able to ride a bicycle and have moderate physical ability. Minimum age required to participate is 6 years old, and children must be accompanied by and adult. Tour is not available to people with heart problems or for people with walking difficulties or the visually or hearing impaired.

In that role, Mr. Miller was responsible for contributing to Abercrombie & Kent's international growth through the development and acquisition of tour products and travel experiences around the world with a specific focus on cruising and land based experiences. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world. Mr. Bonner also helped co-manage Viking River Cruises U.S. Operations, and he ran the corporate, strategic, and deployment planning functions at Royal Caribbean.
